The Adamawa State Government has given reasons for the delay in payment of June salaries to civil servants, assuring that necessary steps have been taken to resolve the matter.

Solomon Kumangar, Director General, Media and Communications to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, says the delay was due to the recent financial autonomy granted to the Judicial and legislative Arms.

The statement read in part “the State Accounts Allocation Committee which has just been set up is sorting out modalities for the payment and this is responsible for the delay.”

“A committee, made up of representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Accountant General’s office and the Clerk of the Adamawa state House of Assembly, had been set up to determine the revenue allocation to all the Arms Government.”

While appreciating civil servants for their patience, the Director General says the Accountant General has been directed to ensure that salaries are paid latest by next week.
