By Hassan Umar Shallpella
On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, an environmental non-governmental organization, Green Environmental Solutions GESoL in partnership with Fulbe Development and Cultural Organization (FUDECO) Adamawa State Chapter planted trees in the Fufore community of Fufore local government area of Adamawa State aimed to address challenges associated with climate change occasioned by indiscriminate felling of trees.

The seeds and seedlings were donated by a Nigerian Medical Doctor, Ibrahim Muhammad Dodo based in Canada, who founded Green Environmental Solutions GESoL as part of an effort to re-green Nigeria.

The trees are for economic use and to provide shelter to the inhabitants aimed at addressing challenges associated with climate change occasioned by indiscriminate felling of trees.

In their separate speeches, Vice Chairman Alhaji Ustaz Salihu Mohammad and Secretary Jibo Alhaji Manu of Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation FUDECO Adamawa State Chapter said the Green Environmental Solutions GESoL championed the tree planting.

They added that the seeds and seedlings planted in the Fufore community are mainly fruits and economic trees; aimed to encourage and educate children and communities on the importance of trees.

GESoL has planted hundreds of thousands of economic and shelter trees in the Adamawa, Kano, Nasarawa Kaduna, and Jigawa states and will continue with other federation states.

FUDECO is a membership humanitarian and development NGO, and a Participatory Action Research network focusing on pastoralism.
