Governor Fintiri Pledges support to Councilors Forum

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Thursday charged the two hundred and twenty six councillors of the local legislature in Adamawa to maintain cordial relationship with their respective council chairmen for development at the grassroots.

The Governor who gave the charge when he granted audience to the Councillors in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola said development can only be ensured at the local areas when there is peace between them and the executives.

Governor Umaru Fintiri told members of the local legislative councils that the essence of financial autonomy granted to the local governments by his administration was for the benefit of the people at the rural areas.

He assured that as soon as the economy improves, he will direct the council chairmen to give constituency funds to Councillors  for the execution of projects in their respective areas.

While recalling how the present administration ensured the training of the Councillors to equip them with legislative knowledge before assuming duty, Governor Umaru Fintiri pledged his continued support to them to excel.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman Councillors Forum, Michael Okopi who is the Councillor for Karewa ward in Yola North local government area, lauded Governor Umaru Fintiri for the giant strides recorded by his administration.

He reiterated the resolve of the Councillors in Adamawa to continue to rally round the Governor to enable him consolidate on the developments achieved and appealed to him to support the Councillors forum.

Contributing, the Leader of the local Government Legislative Councils in Adamawa, Suleiman Mohammed urged the Governor to sustain the support being given to local government councils for more development at the grassroot.
