Hong Branch Of Muslim Council To Ban Un-Islamic Practices In  Marriage

Disturbed by introduction of un-Islamic practices in  marriage among Muslims ,the Muslim council of Nigeria, Adamawa State has directed all its branches across the state chapter has directed its local government to ensure that marriage are contracted based on conditions spelt out in the Holy Quran and the Hadith.

Based on the directive, Hong local government branch of the council on Sunday organized a one day sensitization seminar for Chief Imams of Jumma’at Mosques and Preachers in the area.

In his opening remark at the event held at the Collage of Education Hong COE Hong Staff School, the chairman of the council in the area, Mallam Usman Umar Shall said the decision to such un-Islamic practices was taken after due consultation with  District Heads following complaints on the high expenses of  associated with marriage ceremony among Muslims.

According to him, after the seminar, the Chief Imams will include in their sermons message on banning on such practice while preachers will continue to emphasize on basic requirements under Islamic tradition for conducting marriage ceremony.

He observed that parents of prospective couples are spending so much on things that not required under Islamic tradition for conducting marriage ceremony.

Mallam Shall explained that the ban will come into effect when people are fully sensitized while a monitoring committee will be constituted to ensure compliance while the marriage ceremony for any violator will not be conducted.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chairman of the muslim council in the area, Alhaji Abdullahi Santuraki   explained that before the council arrived at the decision a committee of Ulamas met with critical stakeholders on the matter.

He stated that the directive banning unislamic practices associated with marriage will be binding on Muslims in the community.

In his message, the Adamawa State chairman of  the Muslim Council, Alhaji Gambo Jika represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-mama expressed delight with the efforts of the council in the area for ensuring that are marriage is contracted based on Islamic tenets.

The managing director of M.D Fadama oil Alhaji Ilyasu Fadamarake called on Muslims to unite for the progress of Islam.

Three papers were presented by eminent scholars on the Institution of marriage in Islam, the Innovations attached to marriage in our inherent dispensation and Politics in Islam.
