DAFEE To Conduct Peer Group Education Discussion In Adamawa

A non-governmental organization based in Yola, Dadah Foundation for Education and Empowerment DAFEE, will conduct peer group education discussion with more than ninety youths on self-esteem, decision making and goal setting among others.

The programme which will last for three weeks is being supported by Society for Family, UNESCO and Spotlight Initiative project.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Doctor Ahmad Usman Dadah disclosed this during an advocacy visit to the Village Head of Yolde Pate in Yola South local government area and other stakeholders in the community.

Doctor Dadah explained that during the programme, peer educator from the foundation will have a peer discussion based on gender and age bracket of youths ranging between ten to twenty-five years.

He pointed out that no society will prosper without having educated people with sound mind that can think positively for the growth and betterment of their community and society at large.

Doctor Dadah who decried the negative attitude exhibited by some youths which include disobedience to parents and constituted authorities, indulging in drug abuse, rape and other criminalities, says all hands must be on deck to bring sanity in the society.

He said the foundation will soon embark on sensitization to schools, markets and other public places to educate youths on the need to shun vices capable of ruining their lives and denting their image.

Responding on behalf of the community, the Village Head of Yolde Pate Alhaji Muhammadu Jingi while expressing appreciation for the visit, explained that the role of Peer Education in nation building cannot be overemphasized and pledged his support for success of the programme.

Alhaji Jingi noted that most of the youths who engage in drugs abuse do so due to ignorance of its consequences.

The Village Head charged parents to monitor the movement of their children so that they will grow up as responsible members of the society and not way wards.
