SEC Approves additional N2m on 2020 capital expenditure budgetary allocation for Ministry of works
Adamawa State Executive Council presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved additional two billion naira on the twenty-twenty capital expenditure budgetary allocation for the state Ministry of Works and Energy Development.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Comrade Umar Garba Pella announced this shortly after the council meeting held in the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola Wednesday.
He explained that the council after observing that the twenty-twenty capital expenditure allocation of the ministry was inadequate decided to increase the budgetary allocation to enable the ministry meet up its obligations.
The Commissioner added that the council had also noted the level of work on the ongoing flyovers and road projects as well as the need for more money by the contractors involved to enable them meet up with the deadlines for completion of the projects.
He said initially the budgetary allocation to the ministry was over twelve billion naira but this was reviewed up-ward to over ten billion naira due to Covid-nineteen pandemic that has negative impacts on the economy.
Comrade Garba Pella noted that consequently, the council had directed the ministry of works to write to the state House of Assembly informing it about the need for the increment in allocation of fund in conformity with law.
He restated that the Umaru Fintiri led administration is committed to improving the infrastructure base of the state and assured the people that government will continue to provide purposeful leadership.
