Governor Fintiri Decries Slow Pace Of Work On Wuro Ganyadi Bridge

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has decried the slow pace of work on Wuro Ganyadi bridge and called on the Northeast Development Commission to ensure speedy completion of the project alongside two other bridges destroyed by insurgents along Michika Madagali road.

He made the call when he made a stopover at Wuro Ngayadi bridge where the temporary measures put in place for easy access of people and goods has been cut-off.

The Governor lamented the contractor has been delaying the work which has further subjected the traumatized people returning to their ancestral homes into untold hardships.

He urged the NEDC to put pressure on the contractor to execute the project as the state government is no longer in need of palliative measures, but permanent bridge that will stand the test of time.

Represented by Secretary to the State Government SSG, Malam Bashir Ahmad, Governor Umaru Fintiri advised the federal government to assess the capacity of a contractor before awarding the contract.

Governor Umaru Fintiri revealed that the contractor handling the project has again assured the government that he will put another temporary measures before the actual commencement of the bridge project.

In an interview, one of the residents of Madagali, Mr Luka Daniel said the collapsed bridge has been affecting socioeconomic activities and called on the government to come to their aid.

As at the time of the inspection visit, motorists were seen stranded with their vehicles loaded with goods which has been causing commotion, while commuters have to alight their vehicles and get easy passage.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government SSG Malam Bashir Ahmad has inspected ongoing work on the construction of new cottage hospital in Gombi.

The project is one of the sixty bed capacity cottage hospitals, which the Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration flagged off in four local government areas of Adamawa state.

The government besides these has flagged of rehabilitation and reconstruction of some secondary health facilities across the state with a view to improving healthcare delivery.
