ROADS: Five township roads in Yola receives government attention.
In continuation of his administration’s commitment to undertaking Urban Renewal of the state capital and other towns in Adamawa, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off construction of additional five different township roads in Yola at the cost of two point seven billion naira.
The roads include Doctor’s Quarters: one point six kilometers, Mbamba Street: one kilometre, Mafia road with fall out drain: one point two kilometres, Zumo Street and Links: zero point seventy five kilometres and Nyibango Yolde- Pate- road with two span bridges: three point one eight five kilometers.
Speaking at the event held at Doctor’s Quarters in Yola town on Thursday, Governor Umaru Fintiri said his urban renewal programme cannot be complete without paying considerable attention to the ancient city of Yola with road construction.
The Governor explained that the roads when completed will connect high population density areas, enhance urban planning, ease movement and security as well as address perennial flooding and gully erosion.
He assured the people of Yola town that the roads were few of the numerous projects his administration will deliver in the area and Adamawa state in general and hoped that residents will cooperate with the contractors to deliver a good work.
In his remark, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar revealed that the Yolde-Pate-Nyibango road will cost government one point four billion naira, while others will gulp one point three billion naira.
Alhaji Abubakar added that the contracts were given to Messrs Rayco and Co Nigeria Limited and Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited and assured that the ministry will ensure adequate supervision of the projects for quality work.
On his part, the representative of the Managing Director of Rayco and Co Nigeria Limited Mr Muhammad Kutuk said the company will ensure quality delivery of the project within the timeframe in the contractual agreement and called for support from the residents.
In his vote of thanks on behalf of Mbamba Rumde Jabbi community, Alhaji Abdulkadir Bello said the area has suffered government’s neglect for years and thanked the Governor for awarding the contract and pleaded naming of the road after Alhaji Umaru Badami when completed.
