Lawmaker vows to fight rape in his constituency

Member representing Yola North in the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Hamidu Sajo Lekki has reiterated his readiness to support Laka Women Association of Nigeria Adamawa state chapter in the fight against rape.

The member representing Yola North in the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Hamidu Sajo Lekki has reiterated his readiness to support Laka Women Association of Nigeria Adamawa state chapter in the fight against rape.

He stated this when he received members of the association led by its chairperson, Madam Sarah Justine on a courtesy visit in his office in Jimeta Tuesday.

The member explained that the house has achieve ninety five percent in the process of amending the law on rape adding that governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is trying his best in checking the activities of criminals in the state.

He called on parents to always monitor their children and expose rape cases in their communities so that government and relevant authorities will bring the perpetrators to book.

The Member called on members of the association to continue to support the Fintiri led administration to enable it serve them better.

Alhaji Sajo Lekki said technical and vocational centers have been reopened by Governor Fintiri for the benefits of youths across the state and advised youths to key in to the laudable programmes of the centres.

Earlier, the chairperson of Laka Women Association Adamawa state chapter, Madam Sarah Justine said the aim of their visit is to seek government support ahead of their campaign in the fight against rape and to enlighten parents on the need to monitor their children against associating themselves with bad peer groups.

She explained that the fight against rape should not be left in the hands of government hence the need for the public to support the government in that regard.

On her part, the twenty nineteen Miss Laka Nigeria, Deborah Samuel Ganapai advised Laka youths to learn skills of their choice as to be self reliant.
