Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Saturday flagged off twenty- twenty Free Livestock Disease Vaccination programme across the state.

The Governor at a ceremony which took place in Girei observed that the state is endowed with livestock resources but various diseases has been a hindrance to the exploitation of the huge potentials in the livestock subsector to boost the economy of the state.

He recalled that in twenty fourteen while he was the Governor in acting capacity has made similar efforts in Livestock vaccination but failed due to his limited time in office while successive administrations did not release funds to continue with the programme.

The Governor commended the efforts of the ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development to control livestock diseases so as to provide healthy meat for the teeming population of Adamawa.

Governor Fintiri saluted youths in the state for exhibiting high sense of decorum during this critical period of security challenges in the country.

He implored herders to ensure peaceful coexistence with farmers and avoid clashes during this harvest period.

The Commissioner of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Alhaji Usman Yahaya Diyajo thanked Governor Fintiri for approving the vaccination which will protect cattle from wide range of diseases and improve production.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Doctor Abdurrahman Tukur said livestock sector contributes thirty seven percent of the Adamawa Gross Domestic Product GDP as the state is endowed with abundant livestock.

There were goodwill messages from Member representing Girei Constituency in the Adamawa state House of Assembly Alhaji Muhammad Mutawalle, representatives of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Tabital Pulaaku and that of Bibbe Nganchugol.

Highlight of the event was cultural dance display, presentation of gift to Governor Fintiri in appreciation of his laudable programmes by fulani pastoralists in Adamawa as well as drama presentation depicting the importance of vaccination to cattle.
