“Leukaemia disease is curable” Medical Practitioner

A medical practitioner with Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital Yola, Doctor Onwochei Kondi has described leukaemia as white blood cancer which affect mostly young people.
He gave the indication Friday during the celebration of this year`s World Leukaemia Day which was organized by Jorama Leukaemia foundation with support of Max Care foundation held at Federal Civil Service Club, Yola.
He explained that the disease is genetic.
Doctor Kondi noted that leukaemia disease is curable and urged members of the public to cultivate habit of visiting healthcare centres for proper medical checkup.
The medical practitioner called on wealthy individuals to support patients with leukaemia disease.
In his remarks, commissioner of Land and Survey, Mr Joab Sama saluted Jorama Leukaemia for foundation for organizing this year’s leukaemia disease day celebration.
Earlier in his welcome address, chairman of Jorama Leukaemia foundation who is also chairman of leukaemia survivors Adamawa state, Joram Gajere said it is the first time that organization is celebrating the day in the state.
He explained this year’s celebration is tagged Chronic Myeloid against leukaemia disease.
He noted that the aim of the foundation is to create awareness among leukaemia survivors and support them.
Mr Gajere announced that the foundation will embark on sensitization visits across the twenty-one local government areas of the state.
He expressed appreciation to those who supported the foundation toward the success of this year`s event.
The founder called on government at all level to support the foundation to enable it achieve it desire objective.
