Governor Fintiri pledges to improve Health care Facilities

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed commitment of his administration in improving Health care Facilities to reduce rate of Maternal, infant and Child mortality in the state.

He stated this at a Flagg off ceremony of foundation year programme FYP of College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola to empower young women from rural areas to become Health workers.

Represented by Head of service Doctor Edger Amos, Governor Fintiri expressed readiness to support the foundation to realize it objectives.

He said the rate of Maternal and child mortality in rural areas is alarming and lauded the foundation for the initiative which he said will go along away in making girls actualize their dreams.

Governor Fintiri called on the foundation to step up its campaigns efforts in order to address the problem of maternal and child mortality.

In her welcome address, the Acting Provost College of Nursing and Midwifery, Yola, Comrade Lami Aminu said the aim of the foundation is to address shortage of female Health workers especially midwives in rural areas.

In a speech, the learning Manager Women for Health W4H, Hajiya Salma Mijinyawa said the programme which is funded by UK is working towards improving number and capacity of female Health workers since November twenty twelve in five northern states.

In their Goodwill messages, Lamido Adamawa represented by Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Mustapha Aminu, member representing Demsa, Kate Raymond Mamuno, and Commissioner of Finance Ishaya Dabari   lauded the initiative of the college saying it has direct impact on women in rural areas.

They called for more support to women from government and relevant agencies to reduce problems of Maternal, infant and child mobility and mortality in rural areas across Adamawa.
