40 people registered under Hajj Saving Scheme in Adamawa- says Executive Secretary

The Executive Secretary of the Adamawa state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Salihu says forty people have so far registered under the Hajj Saving Scheme lunched recently by the commission.

The executive secretary disclosed this Sunday at the closing ceremony of the weekly Tafsir on Hadith being presented by an Islamic scholar, Modibbo Umaru Zango at Bamanga Yahya mosque in Yola town.

He explained that muslim who want to perform Hajj but had no means to make down payment are required to register with the commission as well as open an account with Jaiz Bank and start making deposits either daily, weekly, monthly or bi annually.

According to him the Bank will under-take Sharia compliant business activities with the money in form of partnership while profit realized would be shared between the depositor, the Bank, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON and Adamawa state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.

Alhaji Salihu advised Muslims who wish to perform Hajj to embrace the scheme, more so as governments at all levels are finding it difficult to sponsor people for the spiritual trip due to paucity funds.

In their separate remarks, the District Head of Yola, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Musdafa and the Deputy Imam of Modibbo Adama Mosque Yola, Sheikh Tijjani Tahir commended Modibbo Zango for imparting sound knowledge to people of the area.

There were goodwill messages from the Chairman, Center for Islamic Enlightenment, Professor Shehu Iya and former coordinator of Local Apprenticeship Scheme LAS, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Jada.

Earlier in his tafsir, Modibbo Umaru Zango has admonished Muslims to protect themselves from hell fire by giving out Sadaqat and Zakat and assisting the needy.

According to him, Zakat is Alla`s right on the wealth of muslim, while Sadaqat is a voluntary but rewarding act which protects the giver from calamities among others.

The weekly tafsir in the mosque is suspended until after Ramadan.
