Governor Fintiri calls on FG to complete construction of abandoned Chochi irrigation project in Yola

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Wednesday called on the federal government to complete the construction of the abandoned Chochi irrigation project in Yola and desist River Benue to help mitigate the perennial flooding in the state.

He made the call when he received the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruq in the Government House, Yola who was in Adamawa for presentation of one hundred trucks load of assorted grains as Covid-19 palliatives.

The Governor urged the Federal government to hasten completion of the Chuchi irrigation project and desalting River Benue as the state government does not have the required resources to execute the two projects while noting that his adminstration has been proactive in the state towards mitigating flooding.

Governor Umaru Fintiri thanks the Federal Authorities for intervening with the relief food items when the price of foodstuff have arising sharply across the country and gave assured of judicious distributionof the immediately for attainment of the purpose intended.

Earlier in her remark, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruq said grains provided by government from the national food reserve include maize, Sorghum and Millet.

She said the foodstuff will be distributed to vulnerable across the twenty one local government areas of Adamawa and thank Governor Umaru Fintiri for the warm reception accorded to her and her team members upon arrival to the state.
