GBV: Humanitarian Co0rdinator tasks stakeholders to ensure women get access to stronger justice system

The need for critical stakeholders to unite in ensuring that women and girls get access to stronger justice system on issues concerning gender based violence has again been stressed.

Doctor Chris Sabum, the humanitarian coordinator of the United Nations Population Fund Head office in North East made the emphasis during a two day workshop on stakeholder’s validation of forensic capacity assessment organized by the Non-governmental body Spotlight Initiative and United Nations Population Fund held at Homtel Derivative and Suits Barracks road Jimeta.

The expert said the aim of the workshop was to bring critical stakeholders together to discuss issues concerning women and girls with regard gender Based violence and the gaps in accessing justice as one of strategic mandate of the United Nations Population Fund.

He harped on the identification of where the lapses are, taking stock to fill in the gaps and proffering solutions on how to strengthen the justice system.

Doctor Sabum reiterated the commitment of the United Nations Population Fund to supporting state government to ensure zero tolerance to gender based violence in every situation

Also contributing, the programme officer of the United Nations Population Fund, Doctor Danladi Idris noted that rape is recognize as a crime against the state but expressed worried at the way offenders are often left free being found to have perpetrated the act.
