SDG Focal Person in Adamawa lauds Wife of the Governor

The focal person of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs in Adamawa state, Mr. Mark Balanso has commended the state government as well as the management of Dangote Sugar Refinary for playing critical roles in the appreciable success in the development of some key sectors.

Mr. Balanso, who made the commendation in an interview, said the success in the attainment of some aspect of the SDGs is a collective responsibility.

He said the targets in the SDGs are reflected in the development budget of Adamawa state government which has rated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s adminnistration as having attained ninety percent accomplishment.

According to the focal person the seventeen goals, which cover health, education, poverty alleviation, empowerment, skills acquisition and climate change, are among others reflected in the various projects executed by the present administration are impacting directly on the lives of people.

Mr. Balanso explained that soon some related Primary Healthcare facilities would be commissioned and expressed gladness that educational materials have also been distributed to primary and secondary schools in the state.

The focal person, lauded the effort of the wife of the governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for empowering ten women in the two hundred and twenty six political  wards of the state adding that this is also inline with   the targets of the SDGs.

He reminded people of the state to continue to take responsibility on the projects sited in their areas for their own benefit as other critical areas of development are also waiting for government attention.

The official projects under the development goals in the state are on ground in hospitals and schools among others which are mostly executed through the presidency for the benefit of the people.

The focal person used the opportunity to commend the Dangote Sugar Refinary Numan for giving priority to six of the seventeen goals, pointing out that the school Quiz Competition has sponsor by the company is contributing in improving education in the state .

Mr. Balanso said very soon the SDG office will seek ways of further collaboration with the company for attainment of relevan goals in the state.

He called on individuals and corporate organization to emulate the intervention by Dangote Sugar Refinary Numan in working towards the betterment of the large society in critical areas inline with the government development goals.
