NYSC Member Organizes Free Medical Out-reach to over 50 patients

A Member of National Youths Service Corps NYSC serving in the Cottage Hospital Mayo Belwa local Government Area Doctor Quadri Idowu Tella has organised a free medical out-reach which benefited over fifty patients in the area.
He has also conducted surgery free of charge on two of the beneficiaries.
A holder of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery M.B.B.S Ogbomoso Oyo state, Doctor Quadri conducted free tests on Viral Hepatitis B and C as well as Blood Pressure BP and HIV test.
The programme took place at the premesis of the cottage hospital in Mayo Belwa.
According to the Corps Member, about one million People die annually from viral Hepatitis and only one in five persons expose to the Hepatitis B and C virus developed acute symptoms but chronic infection of the disease is common.
He said hepatitis B and C lead to chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Doctor Quadri observed that cases of Hepatitis B and C are common in Mayo Belwa hence the intervention.
The Corps Member attributed unprotected sexual intercourse, Mother to child transmission as well as Blood to blood contact among others as some of the mode of transmission of the diesease.
He explained that the diesease is not curable but can be manage to avoid complication.
While appreciating management of the cottage hospital and mayo Belwa Community for their support which lead to the success of the medical out-reach, Doctor Quadri advised people to go for relevant test to ascertain their health status.
Earlier, the Principal Medical Officer Mayo Belwa Cottage Hospital Doctor Peter Paul said the hospital is proud of the initiative by the Corps Member describing it as first of its kind in the area.
Some beneficiaries of the medical out-reach thanked Doctor Quadri for the gesture and prayed for Allah to reward him abundantly.
