NGO sensitizes community in Adamawa on Hand washing

In commemoration of Global Hand Washing Day being celebrated annually on fifteen october, people of Gangaraso and Sangasumi in Ganye local government have been sensitized on importance of hand washing and were given hygiene kits materials to three schools and Primary Health Care Facility in Ganye.

The event which includes two kilometers walks from Buwangal junction to Gangaraso and terminated at Poksum Guest in Ganye.

The event was organized by A Non-Governmental organisazation Mercy corps in collaboration with the United States Agency For Internal Development USAID and other partners.

Stating the objectives of commemorating the Hand Washing Day programme the General Manager Adamawa state Small Town Water supply Engineer Sulaiman Shuaibu said the theme for this year’s event is Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene aimed at ensuring people continuously wash their hands to prevent taking germs in to their mouth.

Mr Charles Hemba of Mercy Corps in his presentation on the importance of safe drinking water stressed that communities should cultivates the habit of drinking clean water.

On her part, a water specialist Patient Emmanuel demonstrated the practical way of effective hand washing.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries of ST WASH project in Ganye, Muhammed Abbo appreciated the organizers of the event for choosing Ganye to host the Global Hand Washin Day and promised to utilize the knowledge they had acquired during the event.
