The old children’s educational television programme, sesames square, an offshoot of Sesames Street is to begin a pilot project on education in Adamawa from September this year.

Known as Teacher Programme Development for sustainable Recovery the project will last between twelve and thirteen months involving ten schools.

The coordinator of the project in Adamawa, Jummai Sarki disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the management of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation ABC Yola at the Broadcasting House Yola said the Project seeks to train the Nursery school teachers on the best method of handling children.

According to her, the project will come up with a lot of learning packages for children including a five minutes learning programme to be aired on Radio Stations.

The coordinator added that parents would also be trained on how to encourage and support their children’s learning activities at home.

She explained that at the moment the pilot project is to be implemented in Adamawa and Bauchi States only.

Jummai Sarki solicited the support of ABC Yola to ensure the success of the pilot project.

Responding, the General Manager of ABC Yola, Chief Alleni Ethan Dah Maintained that despite Social Media, Radio remains an effective Medium of communication in Nigeria.

The General Manager, who noted the setbacks in Education, said one of the ways of recovery in the sector is to come up with Qualitative education programmes.

Chief Dah assured the coordinator of the readiness of ABC Yola to support the foundation for the success of the pilot project.
