NGO registers over 200 local Peace Architects in Adamawa

The Global peace Development with funding support from United States Embassy in Abuja, has registered about two hundred and twenty local Peace Architects dialogue members to prevent conflict and extremism in Adamawa State.
Mr Ebruke Esike,the Executive Director of Global peace Development GDP, a non Governmental organization stated this during the inauguration of Yola North local government area Peace Architects dialogue LOPAD held at the yola North local government Secretariat.
Esike , explained that the core objective of the inauguration and training was to engage local communities in collection of early warning information to prevent violent conflicts.
He said the membere of the local peace artichecture and the training is to impact knowledge to the members how to collect early warning information and prevent conflict from getting violent.
The executive director of Global peace Development pointed out that they were able to strengthen their capacity and established Community Action and Response Teams in the twenty one Wards of Yola North LGA.
Mr Esike stressed that when people act together constructively and bring out messages of tolerance among diverse Ethnic Groups, harmonious Coexistence and stability will prevailed.
He noted that so far , no fewer than two hundred and twenty local peace Architect dialogue members were registered in Yola north and Lamurde local government areas of the state.
According to the executive director, there is possibility to expand the programme reach additional local government areas in the state.
He said that the programme was all about creating and ensuring safe and conducive environment for peaceful coexistence among diverse communities for peace and good living standard in Adamawa State.
He said that among the members of the local peace Architects includes local Government chairmen, Police,Civil Defense and Department of State Security Services, Traditional , Religious Leaders, Women Associations, Local Hunters and Vigilantes among others.
Responding, Sa,ad Adamu,and Hajiya Aishatu Yakubu who spoke on behalf of the participants, described the inauguration and the training as timely while Advising the organisers of the programme to include motivation support to the members for effective implementation of the programme.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of the local peace artichecture dialogue LOPAD by the deputy leader Yola North Mr Michael Okopi.
