Adamawa state government poise to reposition education

The National Union of Adamawa State Students NUADSS Thursday went round some streets in Yola in a procession commemorating Nigeria’s Sixtieth Independence Anniversary.

The students dressed in Nigeria’s green white green national color chanted solidarity songs and terminated the procession at the Main gate of Government House, Yola.

Speaking at the event, the state President of the union, Muhammad Alhaji Adamu applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prioritizing the education sector through various interventions including payment of scholarship allowance students among others.

He appreciated the decision of the state government to reopen schools in strict compliance with COVID-nineteen guidelines which he described as a right step in the right direction.

Alhaji Adamu said the union deemed it necessary to commemorate the day by expressing appreciation to the Governor for according to the education sector the attention it deserved.

He revealed that under the Fintiri led administration, the condition of students and pupils in Adamawa has changed for good as a result of declaration of free education, feeding as well as payment of Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examinations fees for Adamawa students in public schools.

The Union President stated that the students have observed with delight the roadmap of the present administration which is geared towards changing the negative narrative of the state and declared their unwavering support for it to succeed.

Responding, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri represented by the Chief of Staff Government House Yola, Professor Maxwell Gidado said the present administration is poised to reposition education in the state hence the steps so far taken.

While urging the students to reciprocate the government’s gesture by being law abiding and committed to their studies, the Governor promised to do more in the interest of students and the state as a whole.

He commended them for identifying with his administration’s policies strategies and pledged to do all within available resources to make Adamawa a great union.
