More than 6,300 pensioners receives their gratuity on first come first serve basis

Six thousand three hundred and twenty three local government pensioners in Adamawa state are being paid their gratuity on first come first serve basis.

The Chairman, Adamawa state Local government Pension Board Mr John Madugu revealed this to newsmen in his office in Yola.

The Board Chairman said since he assumed duty in June twenty-twenty, Loca government councils have ten point five million while the state government is committing three point five million naira monthly, making a total amount of fourteen million naira for payment of gratuity.

Mr Madugu explained that the amount realized has been used to pay local government pensioners their terminal benefits to cushion their hardship which was compounded by Covid-nineteen pandemic.

The Board Chairman noted that on record, nine hundred and eighty nine local government pensioners are not yet collecting their monthly pension, because they are yet to be integrated in the system after the last verification report was submitted.

He called on such pensioners who are yet to start receiving their pension to exercise patience as their issue was being worked out.
