INEC in Adamawa says it has taken delivery of over four thousand Bimodal Voter Accreiditation System BVAS

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Adamawa state says it has taken delivery of over four thousand, Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS for use during the general election in the state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari, who stated this during a press briefing on preparedness of INEC for the Presidential and National Assembly election, noted that additional two hundred and seventy five BVAS are been expected.

According to him, a mock accreditation was carried out using the BVAS, in Yola South, Mubi North as well as  Numan and found out that the equipment is working perfectly ahead of the polls.

Barrister Ari said other materials that would be used by adhoc staff have also been received adding that over eighty percent of the non sensitive materials have been moved to twenty one local government of the state.

He said seventy one percent of Personal Voter’s Card have been collected during the excercise that ended on fifth of February twenty twenty three while twenty nine percent of the PVCs are yet to be collected.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner highlighted that voter education as well as training for various categories of adhoc staff to prepare them for the election have also been concluded.

According to him, a total of seventeen thousand, eight hundred and twelve adhoc staff have been recruited for the election  and disclosed that INEC reviewed voting by Internally Displaced Persons from Madagali, Yola South and Fufore local government areas.

Barrister Ari said INEC in the state will continue to engage Federal Road Safety Commission, NURTW, NARTO and maritime workers in the conduct of the twenty twenty three general elections.

He appealed to the media and other stakeholders to continue to support INEC to enable the electoral empire conduct fair, free and credible elections in the state.
