Chief Executive officer of NGO describes as worrisome conditions of internally displaced persons in North-East Nigeria.

The Chief Executive officer of non-governmental organisation connected Development; Hamzat Lawan has described as worrisome the situation where sixty percent of internally displaced persons in North-East Nigeria are women and girls who are out of schools.

To this end, Mr Lawan calls for collective efforts by Nigerians address the out of schools challenge to save the future of girls across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer was speaking when he paid courtesy call on the General Manager of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation ABC Yola Mr Alleni Ethan Dah in his office at the Broadcasting House in Yola.

He explained that the NGO is running a project known as follow the money mean to ensure behavioral change among Youths, empower marginalized communities promote girls child education and ensure transparency and accountability in government.

Mr lawan stressed the need for more collaboration between his organization connected development and ABC Yola so as to enlighten the public on the importance of enrolment and retention of girls in school.

The chief executive officer maintained that the outbreak of covid-19 has further worsened the situation in the education sector.

In her contribution, the programme Manager of the NGO Miss Zaliha Lawan said the organisation is also committed saying that government enacts policies that will make education free and compulsory.

She explained that the organisation has selected Yola north and fufore local government areas as it focal area for the enlightenment campaign in Adamawa state.

Responding the General Manager of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation ABC Yola, Mr Alleni Ethan Dah commended connected Development, for it effort in sensitizing Nigerians on the need for accountability inn governance.

He assured the organisation of the readiness of ABC Yola to sustain the collaboration between the station and the organisation for better Nigeria.

Earlier, the CEO Hamzat and his team visited chief of staff government house Yola, physical Responsibility commission, commissioner of education, chairman ADSUBEB and Sarki Matasa Adamawa among others.
