Adamawa State Executive Council approves over N500m for construction and renovation of healthcare facilities in three local governments

The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities in Numan, Ganye and Song local government at the total cost of over five hundred million naira.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Doctor Umar Garba Pella revealed this to newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Council Chamber, Government House, Yola.

The Commissioner explained that the Council approved the construction of laboratory block, pediatric ward, female surgical ward and mortuary in Numan General Hospital at over two hundred and thirty one million naira.

He added that work on Ganye General Hospital will include construction of Out-Patient Department OPD, renovation of administration block and construction of a laboratory block at over one hundred and twenty seven million naira.

According to the Commissioner, the breakdown for Girei Cottage Hospital includes construction of a male surgical ward, a laboratory block and a female surgical ward totaling over one hundred and forty seven million naira.

Doctor Garba said the contract award is in line with the policy thrust of the Umaru Fintiri led administration towards reforming the health sector adding that the gesture will eventually cover all public round all hospitals across the state.

He stressed that government recently flagged off construction work on the Cottage Hospitals in Lamurde, Shelleng, Girei and Gombi as well as approved the employment of health personnel to man health facilities.
