Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off work on the three point five kilometres of Izala- Gweda Malam – Rafa – Wayam township road in Numan local government area which is to cost one point three billion naira.

The scope of the work includes provision of storm water drainage and culverts that will channel water away from farmlands and residential area with the expected result of mitigating the perennial flooding being experienced.

Governor Umaru Fintiri while formally declaring commencement of work in Numan on Tuesday said his administration has identified the area among others to receive massive infrastructural development under its Urban Renewal programme.

The Governor declared that soon, government will award contract for complete overhaul of Numan General Hospital and Villanova Government College, Numan.

He urged the contractor to work within the timeframe outlined in the contractual agreement while adhering to quality delivery and called on the people to give support for successful execution of project.

Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar said the project will ameliorate the perennial flooding, that residents of the area have been experiencing over the years.

On his part, the Managing Director of Messrs ROCAD and Comapny Construction Nigeria Limited, the contracting firm handling the project, Mr Ronaldo assured residents of the areas of completion of the work in eight months.

In their separate responses, the Chairman Numan local government Council Mr Innocent Koto and a community leader, Malam Amna Ibrahim Fare thanked the governor for fulfilling his promise to them and declared that support of the people.
