It has been observed that lack of adherence to professional code and accepting of monetary inducement  are responsible for inablity of some journalists to play the role of watch dogs in Nigeria.

This has led to under development, poverty and in ability of politicians to provide dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

These are some of the conclusions drowned at a two-day training of journalist conducted by non-governmental organisation, centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment held in yola Town.

Speaking in an interview, a Resource Person at the workshop Titilope Fadare said the purpose of the training among others was to exposed the journalists to be digitally and professional in their activities.

She said the exposure will enable the journalists to play their expected role efficiently.

Miss Titilope advice journalist to frame their report to be intune with the current realities.

She stresses the facts that world is changing digitally and journalists need to brace up in their beats by using mobile phones, among other gadgets stressing that for a journalist to get original story ideas, he needs to be current and connect with people.

Ms Titilope charged journalist to avoid receiving tips or gifts from news sources adding that a professional journalist seeks accountability and exposure, fairness, balance and accuracy in his reports.

She described the contribution of participants of the workshop as great and urged them to put what they learnt into practice.

Speaking the founder and executive chairperson of the Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment Madam Asmau Joda was the participants to make good use of training and connect with the centre in their activities.

Madam Asmau Joda task the participants to be vibrant about the issues of corruption and conduct of politicians hoping that the politicians while calling on politicians to endeavour to deliver on their political promises to the people.
