NGO Commissions Project Askira Uba

A Non-Governmental organization CARITAS Nigeria with the support of Norwegians Agency for Development NORAD and the ministry of foreign affairs in Nigeria, has commissioned multipurpose storage facility and   solar powered borehole to Sabon Gari and Garin Nglang communities of Askira Uba- local government area of Borno State.

Commissioning the projects alongside her team members, the Director humanitarian services of CARITAS Nigeria, Mrs Maria Nkese Udongwo said the interventions is aimed at building resilience of people that have been affected as a result of Boko Haram insurgency.

 

She explained that the project was also meant to bring the benefiting communities out of being dependent on humanitarian assistance as well as build their own livelihood to support themselves and families.

The director humanitarian of CARITAS Nigeria noted thatthe storage facility has a capacity of storing about two thousand one hundred kilogrammes bags of grains and other farm produce which will help the people of the community with ease of facilitation and storage of food for rainy season.

Nkese added that some of the intervention include training of farmers on irrigation farming, train farmers on climate matters by giving them irrigation machines and teach them the technical know-how on handling them pointing out that they also rehabilitated and converted boreholes into solar power system.
