Two people died at Njuwa Lake, Yola Town Wednesday when the canoe conveying them from their farm in Rugange in Yola South local government capsized.

ABC reporter learnt that a lady who was in the capsized canoe was saved from drowning.

In a related development, four suspected drug addicts and peddlers at Wuro Chekke Yola town Wednesday dived into the nearby Njuwa Lake in an attempt to escape arrest by law enforcement agents.

As a result of their action, three of them drown in the lake.

An eye witness and a resident of   Wuro Chekke, Mr Sunday Saad told ABC reporter that the incident happened Wednesday morning when a team of security agents arrived a popular drug joint in the area.

According to him, on sighting the police, the drug addicts ran from the smoking joint towards the lake and dived in, obviously to avoid arrest.

Mr Sa’ad added that one of the suspects who were arrested by the police was later granted bail.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Adamawa state Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police D.S.P, Sulaiman Yahya Nguroje said he was yet to receive the report on the incident but promised to investigate the matter.
