Governor Umaru Fintiri lays foundation for construction one hundred and sixty five classrooms

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Thursday laid the foundation for construction and rehabilitation of one hundred and sixty five classrooms in eighty schools across Fufore and Guyuk local government areas of the state.

According to the breakdown for the intervention in Fufore in this covers the construction and rehabilitation of forty blocks of eighty classrooms and one parameter fence of two hundred and fifty six metres.

For Guyuk, the project will include construction and rehabilitation of forty two blocks of eighty five classrooms and three latrines for male and female pupils in the local government area.

Speaking at the event at Central Primary School Fufore, Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the United Nations Children’s Education Fund, UNICEF and other development partners for collaborating with the state government to execute the project.

He declared that government will compliment the efforts of UNICEF and other donor organizations by ensuring that every Kobo counts and is judiciously channeled for the purpose intended.

The governor commended the chairman of Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board ADSUBEB and the Board members for the good work they are doing and urged them to double up efforts so that they will leave worthy legacies that will be the pride of the state.

The Governor called on parents and community leaders to ensure that children are enrolled in schools after Covid-nineteen pandemic break as it will be of no use to build and furnish classrooms only to leave them without pupils.

Governor Umaru Fintiri said though coronavirus pandemic has disrupted educational activities around the World, he was optimistic assured that things will soon pick up because government is working out modalities to ensure that children do not stay too long out of school.

Earlier in his remark, the Executive Chairman of Adamawa Universal Basic Education Board, Doctor Salihu Ateeku said when the project is completed it will reduce the deficit in classrooms, toilets, fencing and water facilities in public schools in the two local government areas.

On his part, the Chief officer, UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Mr Bhanu Pathak said the organization is poised to continue partnering the state government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals SGD’s in education.

There were goodwill messages by the Chairmen of Guyuk and Fufore local government councils, Mr Kassa Shalam and Alhaji Musa Jauro Umaru as well as the Chief Adviser to the Governor, Chief Joel Hamman Joda Madaki.
