Assessment Training On Small Town Water Supply Held In Yola

Adamawa state government in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development, USAID has organised a one day assessment of progress training on small town water supply ST WASH project in Adamawa State  which is being implemented  by an organization   Mercy Corps in collaboration with Water Aid Nigeria and Garga foundation.

The event titled Bi-Annual WASH Clinic held at Kinasar Hotel Jimeta drew participants from communities where the project is being inplemented which include Dumne  and Song, Gangaraso and  Sangasumi Ganye and Viniklan Girei local government, as well as agencies involved in the implementation of the project.
In an overview of the project so far, the Duputy Chief of party ST WASH, Engineer Yahya Karaye indentified sucesses and challenges in the implimentaion of the project  in Adamawa, Borno and  Yobe  states,
Engineer Karaye said so far, the water supply project in the two local governments of Girei and Ganye have been completed and handed over to the communities.

He urged the benefiting communities to be committed in maintaining the facilities for sustainable development in their areas adding that the remaining water project in Song local government will soon be completed.
Highlight of the event was group work which identified challenges and the way forward.
The participants were appreciative and expressed their commitment to sustaining ring the sustainability of the project.

In an interview,  the programme manager, Adamawa State Small Town Water Supply Agency Engineer Sulaiman Shuaibu, described the Small Town  WASH project in Adamawa state as successful since communities have started benefiting from the intervention.
He howver, called on the beneficiaries to brace up and ensure maintenance and security of the facilities installed.
