Agriculture: Lawmaker distributes farming inputs to constituents

As part of deliberate efforts to boost agricultural activities in his constituency, the Member representing Ganye constituency at the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Alhassan Hammanjoda has distributed herbicides and farm sprayers to over 1000 constituents.

Speaking on the kind gesture according to the Lawmaker was in line with the Federal and State Governments’ decision to promote agriculture, saying his constituency is made up of agrarian communities and the need to support them.

Honourable Alhassan through a committee Chaired by administrator Ganye East Development Area Hon. Abdullahi Yahya Byams took the delivery of the items from ward to ward in the constituency, said the distribution of the materials was part of his initiatives aimed at giving back to the society and empower his constituents, particularly in the area of agriculture.

Hon. Alhassan Hammanjoda who is the Chairman House Standing Committee on legislative compliance and special duties, also said the gesture is part of his Constituency projects, as this is what is expected of a good representative and promised to continue with people orientated.

According to him, the distribution of herbicides was as a result of baseline studies of the needs of his people at this time of rainy season so as to promote agricultural activities are not just being distributed, saying that he was confident that it would assist farmers in his constituency to increase their yields.

He assured those that were yet to benefit from the gesture not to be discouraged, saying that he would soon roll out similar empowerment programme for them.

Speaking during the distribution, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the administrator Ganye East Development Area Alhaji Abdullahi Byams, applauded the member for the kind gesture, saying that, the electorate in the Ganye had voted for a leader who has love of his people at heart, and described him as tasted and trusted leader and promised to continue to support him so as to enable him succeed.

Also speaking various stakeholders in the area thanked the member for reaching out to his people with the items at this critical time, saying the their legislator had done them proud. and charged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the items given to them for the purpose intended, pleaded with the legislator to facilitate for the employment of youth as well as empower women.

Several other beneficiaries who spoke during the event, appreciated the member and said that the items will help in boosting food production in the entire constituency.

In a releted development the lawmaker representing Ganye Constituency at the House of Assembly, Alhaji Alhassan Hammanjoda, has awarded the scholarship to 500 indigent undergraduates in his Constituency, worth N10,000 each for their tertiary education.

Alhassan Hammanjoda who stated this while fielding questions from journalist shortly after disbursing the scholarship through the bank account of the students said he empowered the indigent undergraduates as part of his Constituency project.

The lawmaker added the 2019-2020 scholarship scheme is restricted to students, who have already in institutions of higher learning , and must present the admission letter, copy of their Senior School certificate result, indigene letter, birth certificate among other relevant documents.

The purpose of this scholarship scheme is to offer educational support to indigenous Ganye Constituency students, and to promote philanthropic spirit among students of the area as a form of motivation and succour to the parents.

The beneficiaries, who were given N10,000 each, cut across all the 10 political wards in his Constituency.

He reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents, especially the leaders of tomorrow through empowerment, job creations, financial and educational support
