Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee Set 67 Inmates Free

The Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee has discharged sixty-seven inmates in Numan and Shelleng Medium Security Custodial Centers.

Out of the figure, two hundred and forty-one were convicted and awaiting trial, while cases of fifty-six were reviewed downwardly with six granted bail and one was summarily tried and convicted.

In Numan Correctional Centre, the Jail Delivery Committee led by the state chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman, discharged fifty-five, reviewed forty-five cases, five were granted bail and one was summarily convicted, out of two hundred and fifteen convicted and awaiting trial.

In Shelleng, the committee discharged twelve, eleven cases reviewed downwardly and one granted bail, out of the twenty-four convicts and two awaiting trials.

Among those discharged convicts in Numan Correctional Centre were two females, Charity Bako Thomas and Ramatu Adamu.

Ramatu Adamu, who hails from Shelleng, but resides in Gombe was earlier jailed for stealing bedsheets, cooler and pot, saying her action is to sale and use the money to purchase food.

While Charity Bako Thomas was discharged, after ascertained that her brother, an in the Nigeria Air Force personnel who is in Lagos will offset the money amounting to over two hundred thousand she fraudulently acquired.

ABC Yola reporter reports that the Committee did not entertain criminal cases like Shilla Boys, rape, kidnapping, looting in the name of palliative and criminal murder.
