Training, Retraining Of Civil Servants Re-echoed

Director of Budget, Planning, Research and statistics of the twenty-one Local Government Councils in Adamawa who are also focal persons have called for their training and retraining to enable them perform their duties effectively.
In a communique at the end of a one-day validation exercise of report on performances of the twenty-one Local Government Councils, the focal persons identified lack of working materials like laptops, computer printers and means of transportation as major challenges in collection of data at the Local Government level.
The group called on stakeholders to play active roles for success of the new partnership for African Development NEPAD, African Union Development Agency AUDA, the National Programme of Action NPOA in the implementation of the four thematic areas in local government areas.
The four areas are Democracy and Political governance, Economic governance and management, corporate governance and socio economic development.
Earlier, the secretary to the state Government Malam Bashir Ahmed represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Hajiya Zainab Umar Adamu said gone are the days when Local Government Councils operate without following due process.
He commended some agencies for monitoring and guiding Local Government Councils in Adamawa.
The report identified areas of strengths and weakness of local government councils and rated Mubi South, Song and Lamurde local governments as three best in the implementation of the four thematic areas in twenty-twenty.
On his part, the state coordinator and Desk officer, African Union Development Agency AUDA Yahya Ahmed Iya noted the cordial relationship existing between various monitoring agencies and Local Government Councils.
Others who spoke during the meeting held in the Deputy Governor’s office Yola include Alhaji Ahmed Abba Aminu, Chairman of local government focal persons in Adamawa.
Similarly, the District head of Jada Alhaji Muhammadu Ardo Jada spoke on behalf of traditional rulers present at the meeting
