Adamawa Assembly receives 2021 medium term expenditure framework

Adamawa State House of Assembly has received the Adamawa State twenty-twenty one Medium Term Expenditure Framework MTEF and Fiscal Strategy Paper which is used primarily in guiding the State in its annual budget preparation.

The MTEF is contained in a letter forwarded to the House by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Aminu Iya Abbas during Tuesdays sitting.

He therefore referred the letter to House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget to scrutinize on it and report for further action.

The House has also read for the second time a bill for a law to amend the Adamawa State Penal Code Law number ten of two thousand and eighteen so as to provide stiffer punishment for the offence of rape and kidnapping sponsored by Majority Leader of the House, Hamman Tukur Yettisuri.

After considering the importance of the bill, Speaker Iya Abbas who presided over the session referred the bill to House Committee on Judiciary for scrutiny.

In a related development, the House during Mondays sitting has read for the second time, a Bill for a law to Establish Adamawa State Environmental Protection Agency ADSEPA with its functions and powers for effective implementation of such functions.

The second reading bill followed a motion moved by its sponsor Mr Simon Isa of Song Constituency as seconded by Abdullahi Umar Yapak of Verre constituency.

Deputy Speaker, Pwamakaino Mackondo who presided over Monday’s session referred the bill to the house committee on environment for more legislative inputs.

Also during the plenary session, the house received three executive bills comprising a draft bill for a law to provide for the establishment of Adamawa State Transport Board and to provide for the management, operation of urban, intra state, interstate and international transport services.

The other draft Bill is for a law to establish the Adamawa State University Mubi and to repeal the University law number ten of two thousand and one.

Also received is a draft bill for a law to provide for road traffic administration and make provisions for road traffic and vehicle inspection in Adamawa State.

He therefore adjourned sitting to Monday next week to enable lawmakers scrutinize the MTEF letter forwarded by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
