Adamawa Assembly calls for recruitment of new staff in local government councils

The Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Petitions, Public Service and Electoral Matters has called for the recruitment of new staff so as to fill in the vacant positions created as a result of retirement Staff in the Local Government Councils.

The Chairman of the committee and member representing Guyuk Constituency Mr. Adwawa Dongolok alongside other members, made the call during a familiarization visit on the Commission.

The committee also directed the Commission to compile the list of vacancies created as a result of the retirement or death and seek approval for the recruitment of new staff to fill in the vacant positions.

He said that the Committee is ready to support the Commission, Local councils and the state in general.

The chairman commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration for giving the Local Government council full autonomy to operate as third tear of Government.

Speaking while receiving the Chairman and Members of the House Committee, the Chairman of the Commission, Doctor P. P Power said hundreds of staff retired from service as a result of which vacant positions were created.

He said the Commission is in dire need additional staff to cover vacancies created as well as promotion of serving staff that are due.

The Committee had also visited the Adamawa State Civil Service Commission were the Permanent Secretary of the Commission Mr. Anthony Emmanuel said that, lack of employment in the state civil service is affecting the smooth running of the sector.

The Chairman of the committee Mr. Adwawa Dongolok urged the management of the Commission to be transparent and adhere strictly to due process in the conduct of government business.
