TRAINING: Governor AUF to resuscitate Technical and Vocational Training Centres across Adamawa state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has declared that government has concluded plans to resuscitate the Technical and Vocational Training Centres across the state to train youths in skills required by manufacturing and services industries within the state and beyond.

He was speaking Monday at General Murtala Muhammad College GMMC Yola while declaring open the training of five hundred youths under phase one of a programme organized by the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA.

The Governor said government has also earmarked one hundred hectares of land in each local government to be allocated to youths to enable them to properly channel their potentials and talents for the benefit of the state.

He revealed that government has minimized activities of criminals like the Shilla Cult Group, kidnappers, and perpetrators of violent crime was the result of careful planning and creating the enabling environment to discourage criminality.

Governor Umaru Fintir added that government has also provided free and compulsory education, free feeding and payment of scholarship allowance for students of institution of higher learning as well as undertaken massive renovation and provision of new classroom blocks which has boosted enrollment and the back to school initiative.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, House of Assembly Standing Committee on Information, PAWECO and Sustainable Development Goals, Mr Japhet Kefas and the Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development Mr Iliya James saluted the Governor for giving welfare of youths due priority.

Earlier in her remarks, the Head of PAWECA, Hajiya Aishatu Bawa Bello said the beneficiaries of the training programme are two thousand in number but due to COVID-nineteen, they will be trained in phases adding that the agency recently trained four hundred and twenty youths in the state.

Leader of the British Council, Yola office, Mr Abdulkadir Bello Ahmed and Bishop Douglas Kanatapwa among others expressed appreciation to the Adamawa state government for creating avenues under which youths can engage in meaningful ventures.

The benefitting five hundred youths will receive training on barbing, fish farming, poultry, food processing and preservation, makeup, photography, soap making, solar installation and website design.
