Paupers Fund Committee Expends Over N54m On Indigent Patients

The Paupers Fund Committee of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola has expended over fifty four million naira on indigent patients admitted in the hospital.
The Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Abubakar Iya Umar disclosed this when the committee members paid a courtesy call on the General Manager Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola, Chief Alleni Ethan Dah in his office Tuesday.
Represented by the Vice chairman of the committee, Mrs Amina Albert Zirra he added that the amount covers over one thousand cases, adding that seventy thousand naira is earmarked as maximum for each patient.
He said the committee visit is to solicit assistance towards publicizing activities of the fund and the need for individuals and groups to make monetary contributions on humanitarian ground that will offset the medical bills of more indigent patients.
The leader of the delegation explained that financial transactions of the found are done between the bank and the hospital management as the committee members do not deal with cash.
Responding, the General Manager, Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola, Chief Alleni Ethan Dah who appreciated the fund for assisting indigent patients, pledged continued support and partnership to enable the fund achieved its set objectives.
He said as a public Radio station, ABC Yola platforms have been offered to air the activities of the fund at no cost.
Chief Dah noted that it is responsibility of everyone to make voluntarily contributions to the fund so as to save lives.
