Media Executive Lauds NGO Activities

The Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment has been lauded for sensitizing the public on importance of good governance and accountability across Adamawa state.

The Acting General Manager, Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola, Alhaji Abdul-Nasir Ali made the commendation Wednesday when he received delegation from the centre on a courtesy visit at the Broadcasting House.

Alhaji Ali noted with delight the complementary role played by the organization which has direct impact on the citizenry, stressing that it is in line with government efforts of executing various people-oriented projects across the state.

The Acting General Manager while congratulating the centre for the success recorded recently by one of its project tagged ‘Dandalin Mata and Majalisa,’ urged them to maintain the posture.

Alhaji Ali reiterated commitment of the Radio station to that the ensure the cordial relationship existing between the organizations will continue to wax stronger for the benefit of the society.

Earlier in her remark, Founder of the Centre, Madam Asma’u Joda said the visit is to congratulate the Acting General Manager over his appointment and seek more support and collaboration.

The founder said the role played by ABC in enlighten the citizenry cannot be overemphasize, added that many Journalists including some from ABC Yola were trained in various fields of human endeavours.

On her part, Coordinator of the Centre, Miss Farnuwa Wilberforce gave historical background of the centre which is aim it improving the livelihood of women and youths by ensuring that their voices are heard.

She also said the centre had trained youths and women in various entrepreneurial courses to enable them be self-reliant and also supported and assisted malnourished children in the state.

The coordinator added that the centre also has a human rights desk and is working in synergy with some lawyers in the fight against Gender Based Violence in the state.

Also speaking, the head of Medical Outreach of the Centre, Abdul-Rahman Mubarak Abubakar revealed that part of its activities is to promote good governance and accountability.

Mallam Abubakar further said the centre have trained some youths as mentees on advocacy and accountability, adding that a local parliament called Dandalin Mata and Majlisa was established in order to support the centre in ensuring good governance at the grassroots.

Mallam Mubarak also said the centre is working with all first-class traditional rulers across the state in order to achieve a desire results.
