Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Friday swore into office Sheikh Abubakar Ibrahim Daware as the Chairman Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission.

The Governor at the ceremony held in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola said the choice of Ibrahim Daware was due to his wealth experience on the hajj activities.

He urged the appointee to bring to bear his vast knowledge to change the narrative on Hajj exercise from the state.

The Governor expressed confidence that with the choice of Sheikh Daware, the challenges that first time Muslim Pilgrims encountered in previous years will become history.

He charged the Appointee to ensure that pilgrims especially first time like fulani pastoralists that use their hard earned money to perform Hajj are not cheated during the exercise as his administration will not condone such situation.

While assuring the chairman of support, the Governor called on supporters of Sheikh Daware not to put pressure on the chairman but support him with prayers for the overall interest of the state.

He thanked traditional and religious leaders in the state who stood firm and condemned the recent uprising by some Hoodlum and called on parents to counsel their wards on the right path.

In his goodwill message, the North East Secretary General Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman saluted Governor Fintiri for appointing Daware as Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Board.

He commended the Governor for restoring ‘Yan Kifi grazing reserve in the state for Fulani pastoralists, as well as ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders and launching of immunization covering over one hundred thousand herds of cattle in the state.

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Abubakar Ibrahim Daware who thanked the Governor for his appointment stressed that Governor Fintiri was making a difference in administering the state.

He declared that he will use his years of experience on hajj activities and effect changes in the board through justice and partnering Islamic clerics for early sensitization of intending Pilgrims.
