Adamawa state government is to support about ten thousand farmers for active participation in this years dry season farming to enhance food security and tackle restiveness among youths in the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri dropped the hint when he granted audience to the Youths leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP from local governments who paid him a solidarity visit in the Government House, Yola Friday.

The Governor explained that the government has made this decision having observed that farm yield from this year`s faming rainy season was not up to expectations hence the need to support farmers to go into dry season farming.

The Governor declared that he has mandated the relevant ministries to earmark arable land in the local governments for allocation to the youths in addition to supporting them to venture into agro business.

He added that his administration will continue to create viable opportunities for youths and give them a sense of belonging through empowerment initiatives and skill acquisition programmes.

Governor Fintiri tasked the youth leaders to sensitize other youths on the gains of peaceful coexistence and embracing government empowerment programmes designed for their benefit.

He cautioned youths in Adamawa against replicating negative acts of those in other states as the state is grapping with development challenges.

The governor maintained that since his coming into office, government has deployed adequate funds to education for improvement in the sector and assured the youths of readiness to continue in that regard.

Earlier in his remarks, the spokesman of the local government youth leaders, Honourable Abdurrahman Abubakar Musa who is the PDP youth leader for Yola north local government area commiserates governor on the recent uprising in the country.

He saluted Governor Fintiri for fulfilling his campaign promises in less than two years in office, and pledged that as youth leaders they will compliment government for peace and stability in their respective local government areas.
