Governor Fintiri Commends Federal Government for creating over 700,000 jobs for Young Nigerians.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has acknowledged as worthy, the federal government extended public works programme aimed at creating Seven hundred and Seventy Four thousand jobs for Young Nigerians, describing it as an effective panacea for poverty reduction.

He was speaking at the flag off ceremony of the Public works programme in Adamawa state at a ceremony held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.

Deputy Governor Crowther Seth, Who represented Governor Umaru Fintiri, saluted the Federal government for its courage, determination and plan targeted to benefit Seven hundred and Seventy Four young Nigerians, cutting across the Seven hundred and Seventy Four local governments.

He said government at all levels was committed to addressing the poverty scourge through various empowerment programmes, hence the introduction of the extended special public works programme by the Federal government.

Governor Umaru Fintiri tasked the Twenty One thousand beneficiaries in Adamawa to take advantage of the scheme and work for the growth and development of the state and Nigeria in general.

In a remark, the minister of the Federal capital territory Muhammad Musa Bello explained that scheme entrusted the beneficiaries with the mandate of ensuring the rehabilitation and maintenance of public infrastructure among others.

He emphasized that the initiative is in government quest to tackle mass unemployment as well as ameliorate the socio- economic effects of COVID-nineteen pandemic.

The minister advised the beneficiaries to justify their inclusion in the programme by being committed and diligent in discharging their duties.

Contributing, the acting director general, National Directorate of Employment NDE Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo represented by Madam Joyce Yarnap noted that the agency has remained at the forefront in the fight against poverty and joblessness in Nigeria.

The acting director explained that the extended special public works programme initiated by the Federal government marks the actualization of a most far reaching grassroots based employment creation scheme in the history of the country.

The deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth and the FCT minister Muhammad Musa Bello during the event performed demonstrations of the duties of beneficiaries of the scheme.

Dignitaries present at the flag off included, the secretary to the state government Mallam Bashiru Ahmad, the  Chief of staff Government House Yola, Professor Maxwell Gidado and the  Head of the Civil service in Adamawa State Doctor Edgar Amos among others.
