By Abubakar Muhammad Adamu
The House of Representatives has mandated the Federal Ministry of Works take necessary action to expedite the rehabilitation of the Jibiro-Sarou-Belel road in Adamawa State.
The House also directed the Standing Committee on Works to investigate cause of the delay in the rehabilitation and execution of the project.
The directive followed a motion moved by Member representing Fufore- Song Constituency in the National Assembly Barrister Aliyu Wakili Boya during plenary.
According to him, for the past seven years, the Jibiro-Sarou-Belel road has remained abandoned despite allocations and contract awarded for its reconstruction.
He said the delay in the execution of the project has brought untold hardship to people and affects daily lives which undermines the trust people have on government.
The lawmaker who is the House Committee Chairman on Federal Colleges of Education and Other Related Matters prayed the house to mandate the Federal Ministry of works to compel the contractor to return to site and commence work without delay.
He pledged continued to advocate for rights and well-being of his constituents for progress and development of the area.
The House committee on works was given four weeks to conduct a thorough inquiry and report back to the House.
