NGO Hands Over Projects To Local Government Council

A non-governmental organization, Agaji Global Unity Foundation has executed eight projects and handed same to eight projects to Yola South local government to improve access to safe and equitable water, sanitation and hygiene services to Internal Displaced Persons and Returnees in the area.

The projects shows that four hundred and sixty-three women and school girls as well as three thousand five hundred and eighty-nine persons benefits from hygiene promotional messages and kits.

The handing over the projects held in Office of Chairman of Yola South, Executive Director of the foundation, Comrade Dimas Ezra Lebana appreciated partners for providing the fund and stakeholders in the community for providing enabling environment to execute the projects.

He tasked the communities to take ownership of the projects to ensure its sustainability.

Programme Manager of the foundation, Doctor Yohanna Audu, who doubles as consultant for water and sanitation, enumerated some of the projects executed to include eleven hand pump boreholes, solar boreholes, trained mechanics and hygiene kits to on hygiene to one hundred and forty-four households in Malkohi IDP Host Camp.

In a remark, Vice Chairman of Yola South, Nathaniel Pagiel appreciated Agaji Global Unity Foundation for providing the projects which will meet the needs of the people in so many ways.

He noted that government cannot provide all the needs of the people especially in such critical areas and appreciated the organization in complimenting government efforts to better the lives of the citizenry.

Also speaking, Mai Jibila Wuro Jebbe, Alhaji Bashiru Ahmadu, noted that their communities are better off with the intervention from the NGO and stressed that they will do everything possible to maintain the projects.

In their goodwill messages, Secretary of Yola South local government, Usman Garbatti, Executive Secretaries for Health and Education, Fadimatu Iya and Abba Adamu, and Principal GDSS Damare, Abubakar Ahmed applauded the organization for the projects.

The projects was funding from Nigeria Humanitarian Fund with support from UNOCHA.
