ASCSDA Trains Community Development Officers, Desk Officers On NG-CARES

The Adamawa State Community and Social Development Agency has organized one day training for Community Development officers and Desk officers of local governments’ on activities of the   Nigerian Covid-nineteen Action Recovery Economic Stimulus NG-CARES.

The training which was held in the Conference Hall of the Agency drew participants from the   twenty one local governments.

In his welcome address, the General Manager Adamawa State Community and Social Development Agency, Professor Anthony Dami said the training is to equip participants who are critical stakeholders in the implementation of the programme with knowledge on the intervention programme.

He revealed that the agency is working in synergy with Community Development Officers and Desk officers of local governments and called on participants to use the knowledge acquired in their places of work.

The General Manager saluted Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for supporting the agency which has enabled it in to achieve its mandate.

In his remark, the resource person, Professor Justice Onu from Modibbo Adama University MAU, Yola said the program was designed by the federal government to cushion the  hardships by the  on people caused the Covid-nineteen pandemic in the country.

He explained that the effects of the pandemic have impacted negatively on people, resulting to losses of labour, income, food insecurity and livelihoods in communities.

Professor Onu stated that the State and Federal governments have initiated several programs and projects targeting the poor and vulnerable in the society.

The resource person added that the key objectives of the program are to increase social transfer, food security and support to the poor and vulnerable among others.

He thanked the Adamawa state Community and Social Development Agency for organizing the training and expressed the hope   that the agency will maintain the spirit.

Some of participants, interviewed Malam Sa’adu Ardo Yahya from Yola South and Ibrahim Hamman from Fufore, described the training as timely and pledged to step down the knowledge acquired to others in their respective local governments.
