ADHA passes 4 resolutions mandates Works Committee, Ministry to visit Yebbi- Ganye collapsed bridge

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed four resolutions mandating the State Ministry of works and energy development to as matter of urgency visit the collapsed bridge linking Yebbi to Ganye and other communities for emergency action.

The adoption of the four resolutions followed a matter of urgent public importance raised on the floor of the House by the Member representing Ganye Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Hammanjoda during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The lawmaker briefed the House on the plight of his Constituents as a result of the collapse of Yebbi bridge linking the headquarters of Ganye and other major communities in the area and parts of Jada Mbulo Constituency.

He disclosed that the collapse of the bridge has affected the movement of his people and is affected the economic activities, praying for the House to impress on the State Government to as matter of urgent importance to address the hardship his Constituents encounter by providing lasting solution on the issue.

Contributing on the motion, the Members representing Shelleng, Verre Gombi and Nasarawo Binyeri Constituencies while sympathising with people of the area, commended the member representing Ganye for presenting the issue, and stressed the need for the reconstruction of the bridge.

After the contributions, the House directed its standing committee on Works, Land and Survey and State Ministry of work and energy development to visit the area to ascertain cause of the collapse and take immediate action to ease the suffering of the affected communities.

The House also urged the State Ministry of works to visit the State road in Adamawa to ascertain the number of collapsed bridges and proffer solution to the matter.

Thereafter, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the clerk to communicate the resolutions of the House to the authorities concerned for further action.

Also during Tuesday’s session the House read for the first time a bill for a law to establish Adamawa State Security Trust Fund and a bill for a law to make provision for limitation of actions, sponsored by the member representing Shelleng Abubakar Isa.

Speaker of the House Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the plenary directed the Chairman House Committee on rules business ethics and privileges to schedule the bills for second reading during any convenient legislative day.
