Adamawa state government embark on massive rehabilitation of Jimeta and Yola water treatment plants

The Adamawa state government has embarked on massive rehabilitation of Jimeta and Yola water treatment plants, servicing of reservoirs and laying of new water pipes network covering the entire state capital.

According to last year Engineer Halidu Adamu, the General Manager Adamawa State Water Board, when the networking of pipelines is completed, the water reservoir will pump out about than sixteen million liters of water per day.

The General Manager said government has also procured a new transformer and installed at Demsawo Booster station and when the work is completed residents of Damilu, Jambutu and Demsawo areas will get adequate water supply.

Commenting the Commissioner of Water Resources, Alhaji Hassan Kaigama said Numan and Mubi water treatment plants which were down not functioning have also refurbished to meet the water needs of residents.

Alhaji Kaigama added that the state government in collaboration with developmental partners is executing out water projects in Gella, Fufore, Wuro Bokki, Malabu and Gurin which have attained eighty percent completion.

In an interview at Government Girls Secondary School GGSS Yola where laying of water pipes was ongoing, Mr Ono Paul and Mr Jeremiah who are staff of the school, thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for connecting the school with Yola Water Treatment Plant after experiencing five years without water in the area.

Access to clean drinking water before the coming of the Fintiri led administration has been a source of concern to people as most of the equipment at the water treatment plants had broken down which subjected people to untold hardships.

The Yola water treatment plant which was pumping out  only thirty percent of its installed water  capacity now operate at one hundred percent level as  a brand new transformer and other new equipment were installed to enable it service Yola town optimally.

Following rehabilitation the Reservoir also known as High-level which services Jimeta now pumps out three point two million liters of water per day against the five hundred thousand liters per day.
