Police in Adamawa parades thirty six kidnappers, armed robbers, rapist

Adamawa State Police command has arrested and paraded thirty six suspects in connection with various offences.

The commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Olugbenga Adeyanju paraded the suspects during a press briefing held at the Police headquarters in Yola Tuesday.

Mr Adeyanju explained that the thirty six suspects were apprehended in connection with kidnapping activities, armed robbery, extortion, rape, car theft and receiving stolen properties among others.

The commissioner said items recovered from the suspects include three AK-forty seven rifles, two single barrel guns, one hundred and ninety nine rounds of live ammunition, one G-three rifle, one tractor and two vehicles as well as sixty thousand naira cash.

Mr Adeyanju says the feat was recorded as a result of relentless efforts and sacrifices by gallant officers and men of the command with much support from the government and people of Adamawa State.

According to the commissioner of Police on twelve of July, this year, one Abdullahi Umar, a resident of Modire in Yola South reported that unknown gunmen invaded his house, kidnapped his wife and one year old baby who were eventually released after the kidnappers collected the sum of one million, ten thousand naira ransom.

Mr Adeyanju revealed that on twenty third August, twenty-twenty  the vice Chairman of Fufore Local Government council, Mr Japhet Hammanjabu reported to the command that some people called and threatened to kidnapped him if he failed to pay the sum of fifty million naira and they eventually kidnapped his daughter and killed his son.

The commissioner of police announced that immediately on getting the reports, the police swung into action and eventually apprehended the suspects who are residents of Shani in Borno state and Bariki in Adamawa State.

He commended men of the anti kidnapping unit of the police for their tireless efforts which led to arrest of several criminals in Song, Fufore and Mubi as Savannah Sugar Company, Gyawana.

The commissioner presented special commendation letters to two civilians who contributed to the achievements as Audu Husaaini and Abubakar Ibrahim mark of encouragement.

Similarly Mr Adeyanju presented award to ten of his men for their professionalism and gallant performance.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Suleiman Yahya Ngoroje and officer in charge of AB Ibrahim Mohammed were among the ten officers that received the special recognition.
