Adamawa Lawmakers receives constituency allowances

Adamawa State House of Assembly has saluted Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for granting Constituency allowance to the twenty five Members of the state seventh Assembly.

The Deputy Majority Leader of the House and Chairman, House standing Committee on Information, Mr Japhet Kefas of Gombi Constituency made the commendation on behalf of the lawmakers during an interview with State Assembly correspondents in Yola.

According to him, the constituency project fund was not given to the members in cash, but was rather released to state ministries and agencies that will execute the projects as identified by the legislators.

The House spokesman categorically explained that the found was not credited to the personal accounts of the Legislators, but in the accounts of various ministries that will after due process award contracts for the execution of the constituency projects to various construction companies.

According to the legislator, no member will have access to the fund on personal basis, but they will forward lists of projects of their choice and their locations for execution by the relevant ministries, insisting that the only role every member will play is to supervise the work so as to ensure that specifications are met.

Mr. Kefas thanked Governor Fintiri whom he described as ATM, visionary and a focused leader for releasing the funds for the execution of projects in various constituencies, saying that this will enable legislatures to fulfill some of their campaign promises to the people.

According to him, the funds will be used to provide portable water, execute electrification projects, construct or renovate schools and health centers, rehabilitate rural roads, empower constituents, award scholarship and host of other constituency activities.

Mr Kefas pointed out that the ministries concerned are ready to carry out the procurement process as provided by law before embarking on execution of the constituency projects.
