Adamawa Has Inadequate Female Health Personnel -ACOMIN

The Adamawa state programme officer, of the Civil Society in Malaria control, Immunization and Nutrition ACOMIN Mrs Lauretha Charles has identified inadequate number of female health personnel in Primary Health Care Centres across the state as a challenge to health care centres across the state as a challenge in provision of health care services.

She also observed that shortage of Global Fund malaria commodities was due to increased unawareness   about free malaria services across the state and lack of synergy between community leaders, ward Development Committee of the programme and facility workers.

Mrs Charles stated these at a media briefing held to update stakeholders on successes and challenges of the project which focused on availability, access to and quality of malaria services as well as improved budgetary appropriation, community investment and improved human resources for health care delivery.

She enumerated the successes of the programme to include increase awareness on free Global Fund Malaria commodities and services at Local Government and the state in general, Increased community ownership of the project and other health intervention in facilities, in addition to Integration of District Heads and other traditional title holders in the project awareness programs.

In their good will messages on impact of ACOMIN in communities, thanked the Global Fund for the support and called on the mass media to key into the fight campaign against malaria by amplifying the need for increased funding for malaria interventions by government together at with increased support for the project by the state and local governments and other relevant stakeholders.
